Landscaping

When we purchased our new home we knew we would have to make some changes to the yard.  While the landscaping looked beautiful, it wasn't practical for our life.
 This became..
After playing on the front grass and letting the flowers grow it became overgrown and dead.
 From this to
this, another overgrown space.  Plus we found out if you do not have a yard to mow the bugs breed like crazy and never move out.
 And from this to
this in just three short months!

I think I contacted about 10 landscapers and 10 tree removal compaines.  After reading many reviews online and meeting each of the contractors personally we selected a tree company and landscaper to do the job.  The first day of work the landscapers crew arrived at 7am to remove the front shrubs, excess dirt, rocks, and grass.
It was already an improvement over the overgrown yard.  I had concerns about the large oak tree.  The roots were growing up which makes it vulnerable to falling over during a storm or hurricane.  It was over the driveway which made my car dirty.  It was only about 6 feet from the house and I could see it causing future problems with the cement, foundation, or plumbing.  The tree crew arrived the next morning to remove the big oak tree in the front and 8 small trees in the back.  What an event that was.  They cut the big tree in 3-5 foot sections and let it fall.  I was a little scared from inside the house.  They also let some of the smaller trees in the back fall and one fell right on the sunroom.  However, it was very light and mostly leaves so no damage was done.
It was a huge tree.  The stump grinder was here the next day from 8am to 3:30pm to grind the stump.  When he was done there was a mound of mulch as tall as me.  The landscapers came back the following week to remove the mulch and it filled a dump truck.  They also found more roots and stump below so the grinder came back out for another hour or so.
After the trees were gone in the back we could see our neighbors
and our shed!

The next week the landscapers had 10 guys in the yard digging away.  They dug out the small trees, shrubs, and weeds, grated the yard, added compost and laid sod.
I love our new beautiful yard!  The kids are so excited to see a nice grassy yard again and I look forward to playing on it next summer.
Our new front yard.  It was such a transformation.  Neighbors have been stopping by to tell us how beautiful the house looks, how much bigger it appears, and to congratulate us.  I am so pleased with the results.
