Happy 6th Birthday Emily

This year Emily asked to have a birthday party at our house.  She invited some neighbors and school friends and we decided on a fairy garden party.  The girls painted birdhouses, made flower pots, and decorated them with fairy ornaments.  Then they pretended to fly with their fairy wings in the bounce house and swing set.  She had a pinata filled with her favorite candy and a garden theme cake.  It was such a fun day and I am so thankful for our friends that came to celebrate.

The party today made me think back to previous years and how we celebrated.  For her first birthday we celebrated with our hospital playgroup friends at our Jansen house.  Her second birthday we celebrated in our new house with friends.  For her third birthday we went to her favorite ice cream shoppe, Sweet Frog.  The 4th birthday was at our neighborhood pool with preschool friends and a Jake and the Never-land Pirates theme.  Last year she asked for a birthday party with Liam at pump it up.  She had a frozen theme and invited her preschool friends.

Emily's birthday was also the last day of school.  Here is a picture of Emily's first day of kindergarten.  A look back on her 5th year...

Emily is such a good sister to Liam and Jacob.  She helps Liam do his chores, and stay organized.  She helps Jacob by playing with him, holding him, helping him walk, and feeding him.

This fall she played soccer.

Our last picture with her baby teeth.

She was a daisy girl scout.  We went to many fun events including behind the scenes at the Nutcracker.

She is such a hard worker.  She studied hard and completed 100 lessons in her workbook to earn a pair of roller skates.  Once she received them she practiced for 4 hours over the weekend to learn how to skate.  I love her determination when learning a new skill.  She also learned to read this year, and how to ride a bike without training wheels.

She took a gymnastics class to learn how to do headstands and cartwheels.

Here she is the last day of school.  I love that she wanted to wear matching dresses with me on her birthday and that she made her own graduation hat out of construction paper after seeing my kindergarten picture.  I am so lucky to have this girl!
