Impressed

I am sure there will be many times in my life that my children will impress me.  At this point I am very impressed with Liam.  We are going through a lot of changes at home and Liam is handling them all much better than I expected.  He has taken the role of a big brother very well.  When you watch Liam interact with Emily you can tell he is proud.  He talks to her, tries to comfort her and looks out for her.  When we are leaving the house he tells me not to forget her.  If I am busy making lunch or dinner he sits next to her to play and offers her toys.  When she cries he announces baby crying and gets her pacifier.  And when she toots he says, "Whoa, that is a big poo!"  It makes me laugh every time.

I recently decided to go back to work.  Ideally I could have waited until Emily was at least 6 months but an opportunity came up that I couldn't refuse.  I am working part-time from home in a marketing position that closely relates to my experience.  Before I started I was concerned that Liam would want to play with mommy while I needed to work.  He has adjusted well.  When the sitter comes he is ready to play.  He says bye-bye to mommy and daddy and starts his day.  I love being home and can hear that Liam is giggling and playing.  I don't hear much from Emily but that is also reassuring.

We also have a new speech therapist.  A friend of ours was working with a young, fun therapist that her daughter loved.  A few weeks ago we requested a change to now work with Miss Sara.  Liam enjoys playing with her much more and gets more out of the session.  Not sure what we can attribute his speech progress to but yesterday he said, "want red car under tt (T.V.)"

There are two more changes approaching and I hope they go just as well.  Our current babysitter is going back to college this week and our new nanny starts next week.  Liam enjoys playing with the sitter and her enthusiasm has helped our transition.  Liam also starts preschool September 13th.  When we went to the school last week to turn in our paperwork he ran in and said, "ready to play."  Then he said "hi" to the teachers and sat down on the alphabet rug to show off his knowledge of the alphabet.  The teachers were surprised that he already knew the alphabet at his age.  At this point, I think he will do well with both of the changes but I am a little concerned that all of these changes have happened so quickly.

After an earthquake and a hurricane in the same week I am looking forward to an uneventful September, and fun filled fall!
